Karen Ousey is Professor of Skin Integrity at the University of Huddersfield and Director of the University’s Institute for Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention. She has more than 30 years’ experience across clinical practice, education and research, with expertise in wound care, skin tears, infection prevention, surgical site complications and the wider management of skin integrity. Her work focuses on improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, professional education and the translation of research into clinical settings. Karen has held a range of national and international academic and professional leadership roles, including Visiting Professor appointments with Monash University, Queensland University of Technology and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She is Immediate Past President of ISTAP, Immediate Past Chair of IWII and Recorder for the World Union of Wound Healing Societies. She is widely recognised for her contribution to wound care research, policy and education.
