Dr. Trent Brookshier is a podiatric surgeon and board certified wound specialist physician with an emphasis in diabetic wound care and limb salvage.
Owner of North Park Podiatry, a private practice, with multiple locations in San Diego, California, delivering exceptional, evidence-based care through innovation, compassion, and surgical excellence. The team provides comprehensive podiatric services ranging from preventive care and sports medicine to advanced reconstructive surgery, limb salvage, and complex wound management. As an early adopter of emerging medical technologies, he continuously evaluates and integrates novel diagnostics, biologics, regenerative therapies, and digital health solutions that improve patient outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
Dr. Brookshier is the creator of the BIOMES tool, a wound assessment and management framework that was developed to improve the identification, triage, and treatment of chronic wounds. It is designed for use by both frontline clinicians and wound care specialists.
Also works as an on-call specialist at the level 1 trauma center in San Diego, tending to wounds of various kinds both acute and chronic. Attending teaching physician to the residents and medical students at Scripps Mercy Hospital and Sharp hospital systems.
Completed over 2,000 surgical limb salvage procedures and constantly trying to improve patient outcomes by implementing the latest innovative techniques, biologics, and dressings.
Principal investigator in several research studies for skin grafts, complex closures, and surgical treatment techniques.
International speaker sharing about the BIOMES tool and completed research studies at venues including the European Association of Dermato-Oncology, the Congress on Diabetes and its Complications; and the International Diabetes Federation Congress.
